About Me
Nathan Szerdy is quite a character, which makes him an expert at designing a host of unique and whimsical characters for his artwork. His creations have appeared in children’s books, newspapers, 3-D animation, science museums, murals, and merchandise. He is capable of adapting his style to a wide variety of situations. His characters range from realistic animals and lifelike humans, to fanciful creations of Nathan’s own imagination. His work has a great appeal to audiences of all ages, yet his true passion is in designing characters for children.
Nathan worked for 7 years as a caricature artist with Fasen Arts. During this time, he refined his talent for capturing the nuances of both the face and personality. He considers his time with Fasen Arts a great learning experience, because it was not only an environment where he was surrounded by other talented artists, but it also was an opportunity to practice his skills on thousands of subjects.
In 2009, Nathan graduated with a B.A. in Digital Media: Visual Language from the University of Central Florida. Only thirty students are accepted to this program every year, which makes it an honor simply to be a part of this selective group. As part of this intensive program, Nathan worked on many projects, including the animated short film, Atlas’ Revenge. In addition to the shared responsibility of animation, Nathan personally contributed to this project by designing the star character of the film. He also designed the movie poster that would serve as advertising for the film and the UCF digital media program.
Nathan is currently working as artistic director for Media Convergence Lab, a company that is designing the new Florida Wing for the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Science. As a part of this project, he is responsible for creating the visual style for the exhibit, animal habitats, and the kiosks the visitors will use. Nathan’s work will also be featured at the OrlandoScienceCenter, where he is designing a series of characters that will be used in conjunction with new facial-recognition software.
Nathan’s versatility and wide range of experiences as an artist make him an asset to any project. For information on bringing his unique perspective to your company, please visit the resume and contact sections of this website.
